Halifax weather....oh my....One thing about the weather in Halifax, it is never static, in fact, it changes with amazing frequency. That's why I thought it might be nice to add a weather widget to my sidebar in case you are interested. Tonight, as write this, Halifax is experiencing a freezing rain storm that began this afternoon and is expected to continue into the late evening, before the temperature is supposed to rise, hopefully turning it back into just rain. In the meantime, driving and walking is less than nice....
Quite an upset at the New Year's event held at the Cunard Centre in downtown Halifax on New Year's Eve. Party goers are still trying to sort out lost coats from the less than perfect coat check situation. What made it particularly bad was the added problem of a major snow event hitting Halifax that night, leaving some party folks to go home on foot without coats....not a nice thing at all....Taxi's were hard to come by, coats went missing, an altogether terrible situation for anyone there. Our hearts go out to anyone who was caught in that mess.
I think that situation highlights the fact that government needs to take a good hard look at events of this nature and review what if any requirements should be in place. I know there are some controls now, mostly around fire regulations and serving liquor, but they may need to go further to ensure attendees are protected.
Welcome to Halifax Nights and Sights. I hope you find something of interest to you. Halifax, Nova Scotia on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean is one of Canada's finest provinces.
