2011 Canadian Federal Election

Well...wow! The Canadian Federal Election 2011. It was a barn burner no doubt about that. Prime Minister Stephen Harper got his majority government that he wanted, and Jack Layton's NDP's are the official opposition, and well pity the poor Liberals....Michael Ignatiff is third and the Liberal Party is pretty much in disarray.

One of the big upsets of the evening, at least in my area, was the loss of Liberal incumbent Michael Savage to the New Democratic, Robert Chisholm. Robert was the leader of the Nova Scotia NDP's some time back, dropped out of the political scene for awhile, but dropped back in for this election and guess what? He won, beating Michael Savage.

Of course that is only one of the many upsets in this election, most notably in Quebec where it sounds like the NDP's have taken hold, and Gilles Duiceppe is retiring from the leadership of the Bloc Quebec party.

I'm glad for a Conservative Majority, I think it's time Canada had some political stabilty and leadership.
