Violence In Halifax

You know what pisses me off? Well yes, a lot of things, but one thing in particular is how the police, who, at least around here of late, seem to be having a tough time catching the bad guys, but always have a plan to deal with the crimes, which are increasingly violent. In the latest plan, described today on the ATV News at suppertime with Steve Murphy, is to target owners of restricted firearms who have 'failed to register' or re-register their firearms. This is obstensibly to remove those guns from the 'street' so the bad guys cannot steal them and use the stolen guns in crimes. Apparently there is a rash of guns being stolen, although we haven't heard much about that until now.

OK, so that's the plan. What about a plan to find and arrest the guys who are using these stolen firearms? The police spokesperson didn't delve into that very much, apparently because the plan is either, 1) top secret or 2) unintelligble or non-existant.

It's time to get tough on crime, and that isn't just the job of the police. It's time that we demand tough sentences, really tough, long sentences for those found guilty of violent crime. Any crime for that matter, but violent crime should be, 1) non-parobale, and 2) bring mandatory long sentences. Forget about rehabilitation and lock these people up, for a long time.

The police can't catch them all apparently, I get that, but those they do catch should find themselves incarcerated for years and years, and then some more years....tack on a few extra years for good measure. It's not like they are contributing to society.

  1. lets fight crime and end firearms violence by getting the police to threaten firearms violence against law-abiding non criminals if they dont hand over their property for FREE!

yeah, the guns robbing people at gun point will surely reduce gun related crime in Halifax
